Actually, if you read the original Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, it’s scary anyway. Even the Disney movie was sort of scary. I think there’s no way to tell this story without making it seem trippy. Naturally, Burton is going to take this to a whole new level.
Also, fun fact: the story is actually about mathematics. Yes that’s right, it’s full of wonderful mathematics. But you’d have to study it long and hard to get all the references.
This story is so perfect for me it’s ridiculous. I mean, it’s got mathematics, shrooms and cats. What more could anyone need!
I really want this to be good. The question is whether the fact that Disney is still involved will bring it down. Nah, Tim Burton’ll pull through. I’ll love to finally get a good movie of one of my favorite stories.
@...dieAntagonista: All you stated I am in the know about.Read the book whilst in Hawaii. Took a mathamatics class about logic which also covered the works of Alice In Wonderlands author etc. I only wish I could see it with you. Don’t forget the Mad Hatter and talking playing cards. Woot!
Can’t Tim Burton come up with his own shit anymore instead of sending his little Theatre Troop to angstify the classics? I hate to sound bitter about this Alice thing, but if you want to take Lewis Carroll to the dark side – AMERICAN MCGEE OR GTFO.
No I didn’t know that. Wait, are you trying to say that it’s wrong to like it because a paedophile wrote it?
Or that this was all calculated by him in order to catch little girls like me?
If it’s option number one: Well yea, a lot of people like the film Silence of The Lambs. That doesn’t mean they would like to hang out with a man like Hannibal.
If it’s option number two: I can live with that. It’s mostly sick individuals who produce dope stuff. I feed on second hand mental disorders, so to say.
Wow, this story brings back memories and I’m glad I happened to read the original (along with Grimm’s Fairy Tales). This movie will definitely spark my imagination. Thanks for all the years, Mr. Burton. 🙂

That’s insane. So a man who wrote this story in 1865, knew what a girl like me would like today? I’ve always said I was born in the wrong period, but that’s some concrete proof right there.
Ah Mister Dodgson, who would have thought. This banal fact, makes the story even more absurd to me. I like absurdity.
finally a movie with a twist.
Alice*
I CANNOT FUCKING WAIT.

Nothing Tim Burton does is scary; unless by “scary” you mean “formulaic” or “cheesy.”

@...Puulaahi: Nice. Yeah we should go to the cinema together. Although I’ll freak out while watching it. Fo sho.
@...dieAntagonista: All about freaking out whilst watching a movie yo!

Did you know the author, Lewis Carroll, liked to take pictures of nude little girls?

@...TrayShadix: OK, How is American McGee’s Alice any different than what Tim Burton is going to do to it…

Bon Appétit
This isn’t to say that “Alice” isn’t an entertaining multi-level read. (double negatives for the win!)

Also, double negatives rule.
