There’s no way we could do WWII again. From the draft to the homefront to the rationing, all of it. People are just WAY too self-centered these days. We just flat-out couldn’t do it again.
@...LukeV1-5: I’m pretty sure we have a few resources left and I’m not sure why anyone would say that WWII ushed (sic) in the pussification of a nation (perhaps some other nation?).
@...njch412: Me, I see America unable to defeat some ragheads in caves with AKs, despite billions in military funding. I see them making a mess of the Middle East, and fumbling the reparation. And I see them spreading. Spreading like an ulcer. And I see their superpower status coming to and end some time soon.
Really? Gone to shit? A larger percentage of people are working now than have ever worked (at least before all the lay-offs). Men, women and even kids (high school) work and many, more than one job. It is much more expensive to maintain a middle class status than it was 50-60 years ago. How many intact families do you know that has only one ‘breadwinner’ in the household?
@...LukeV1-5: People now are more educated than they’ve ever been. I think your sense of history and nostalgia—seen through the filter of various media—has warped your view. There’ve always been racists, bums, hillbillies, corrupt politicians, stupid teenagers, religious nuts, crazy drunks, desperate poor people, etc. We see them more often now because of t.v. and the internet, but they’ve always been there.
Take for instance The Andy Griffith Show in the 60s. The town drunk, were he real, would not be a loveable Otis, not now and not then. Gomer the town hick would not be endearing, but laughable. America’s never been a country of middle and upper class only citizens. Take a look at Gangs of New York—is America an improvement from that? You bet it is. There’s always been grift and destitution. But, like the way we usually remember our own lives, we filter out the bad more often than the good.
@...njch412: Weellll, Back in *my* day, we didn’t actually eat food. We ate nails. Yep, you heard me, nails. Mom would take a file, file up a half bowl of nail filings, pour some used motor oil over it and say “Eat up, boys…” Yessirreee Bob…
And she didn’t stand for no backtalk neither. One of us boys got smart, she nailed our tongue to the door. Yessir, to the bathroom door, for a whole day, no less, so everyone who had to do thier business watching you… tell ya what, back in those days, we were tougher, stronger, worked harder, and had more respect for our elders… Not like these wusses walkin around today. Get a spankin’ and go cryin ta child services an all that…
Nosirreee… The nations gone to hades in a handbasket I tell ya…
Wow… these are great. The good ole days of sexism and racism.

The greatest generation!
So great, in fact, that they spent all our money, used up all of our resources, and ushed in the pussification of a nation.
@...EntropicMusings: Wut?
@...nyokki: He’s right you know.
Also, whoever made the first picture clearly didn’t speak Japanese – the word is prease.
Or pah-reez-uh, if you’re being pedantic.
@...EntropicMusings: But they beat the evil Axis!
@...luigibrasile:
AND THAT’S ALL THAT MATTERS.
@...LukeV1-5: I’m pretty sure we have a few resources left and I’m not sure why anyone would say that WWII ushed (sic) in the pussification of a nation (perhaps some other nation?).
I look around and I see America kicking ass and taking names still, only now without the support of the rest the world.
A fraction of a percent of the population still has some warrior spirit.
Armed Forces Hooah.
@...nyokki: Why do molecules exist? Can you answer that question?
I don’t know why it happened. But in the 50, 60 years since the second worldwar, generations have become progressively more shit.
Less work ethic, more superficiality. And all that other shit.
It could be a coincidence.
But it might not be.

That’s what I see.
But that’s just me.

@...nyokki: I don’t mean the state of the nation. I mean the state of the people.
@...LukeV1-5:
That sounds like people to me. Your comment to njch412 may have been about the nation, but I think it’s the same diff anyway.
I history repeating itself.
*see
Wow tired.
“U.S. Employment Service”? But the government doesn’t create jobs — the Republicans told me so. 0_o
