I went with friends up to Lexington Reservoir a few weeks ago. Apparently there used to be a town there before they put the dam up and we\’ve gotten so little rain in the past few years that the water level was beneath the town bridge.
I took other pictures which are here.
I love the colours. The forth picture with Brehn standing there in the middle is so dope. That hoodie is the best.
I also liked the photo with only the two other photographers, they look so different yet they’re obviously quite similar because of the cameras in their hands.
And the jumping picture made me just plain envious.
Haha omg I just realised what those dots on the hoodie are. Freaking Pokemons! That has got to be the most amazing hoodie I’ve ever seen. Want.
Dude I love these. Is this Lexington Kentucky?
Neat photos, outofocus. Looks like a neat place! Methinks you should put up more of your stuff…
@...dieAntagonista: Pokemons! Heh. A store we’ve got here that helped make punk and goth mainstream called Hot Topic (hottopic.com) was selling them but only in adult sizes. He bought it two years ago and wore it with the sleeves rolled… now it fits him. :]
I like that picture of Kelley and Rob as well. I don’t know Rob that well but it’s funny because we all have canons. People were staring at us.
@...aarpie: Sorry, I realized after I posted I forgot to specific that it is in California, just outside San Jose on the way to Santa Cruz. I have been to Lexington, KY though. My way back when family is from that area so I spent a few months there when I was a teenager. Yay for chiggers! haha.
@...jascas_: Thanks. I did put some stuff up when I first started submitting but I’m never quite sure what will interest people so only when I’m TOTALLY sure do I submit something. :]
I get so little feedback there that maybe I should submit here more often… hrm.
@...outofocus: I’d love to see you post more pics. I intend to and I have no xp w/ photography and my camera is a decent digital for noobs, but not nearly as nice as what you’ve got.
@...nyokki: I’ll keep that in mind. :] Lately I’ve mostly been taking pictures of people (engagement shots, weddings, just for friends)… stuff I wouldn’t post here. But I am way, way behind on post processing images from stuff (like caverns up north) so I’ll work on getting to those so I can post more stuff. :]
@...outofocus: What program would you recommend for a complete novice (as in no clue) for processing digital photos?
@...nyokki: Hrm.
Well, when I’m being lazy I use Picasa. It’s free and does a lot of the little things relatively well. Otherwise I spend all of my time in Photoshop which is not novice friendly but is worth learning. There are a couple of really quick, EASY things you can do to insta-better your images in Photoshop. If you have Photoshop, I’d be happy to tell you them. If not, I won’t bother with the typing. 😉
Play with Picasa though. It’s not particularly dynamic but you can adjust lighting and saturation, etc. My only complaint is that there is no way to gradually sharpen images so sometimes it seems too much. And it makes emailing pix super easy.
I had photoshop a couple of years ago on a different puter. I’ll ask my son if we still have it somewhere or if I can buy it a reasonable price. I seem to remember it was a tad pricey. My sis has picassa.
@...nyokki: Picasa is free thanks to Google. :]
Photoshop is super expensive. I really want the latest version (CS4).
@...outofocus: Lol, that’s what I have. I started a thread in the forums asking for some quick tips to get started. frikken tutorials are insane.
@...nyokki: Wait? You have CS4?
@...outofocus: Yep. Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended ver 11.0.
@...nyokki: Lucky. That was just released a little while ago. How did you end up with that if you aren’t a PS user?
I forgot about the program Adobe Elements which I believe is free (they give it away free with cameras). It’s a simpler version of Photoshop. My mom uses it because she can be bothered to learn the CS editions of Photoshop (we’ve both been using it since v3 and with CS it was like almost starting over).
@...outofocus: #1 son gets all kinds of programs for free. Companies send him things to test and he gets to keep them. I asked him if he had any photoshop and he handed it to me 1/2 hour later (he’s not the most organized person).
@...nyokki: Wow. You now have the most powerful photo editing software ever! There are some drool inducing tools in CS4. I have CS2. The class series I’ve been taking is for CS3 and I often run into having to do things manually that CS3 has tools for doing. heh.
@...outofocus: I wish I was able to appreciate what I have, but I have no clue where to even begin. I think I may look for Picassa as a starter. I was looking through CS4 and it’s complicated and doesn’t appear to be for novices.
@...nyokki: Nope, it’s not for novices. I think that’s why they came out with the Elements program when the first CS was released.
The most basic things and most common tools you’d use in Photoshop would be the saturation tool, sharpening tool, noise reduction, brightness/contrast. With those four, you can do a lot. Just ignore everything else and focus on those. Try playing with them and see what they do.
I figured that stuff out on my own. I’m taking the Photoshop classes mostly because I want to be able to do more with my photos… I hit a wall where I can not afford better equipment and this is where Photoshop can be useful for me.
@...outofocus: That’s basically what I was doing last night. I used a pic of my cat and just started playing around; seeing what did what. I’ll prolly look for a starters/novice tutorial. Thanx for all the info. It is definitely helping.
