Explanation: Astronomers all over planet Earth invite you to experience the night sky as part of the International Year of Astronomy 2009. This year was picked by the International Astronomical Union and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization because it occurs 400 years after Galileo turned one of the first telescopes toward the heavens. Peering through that small window, Galileo discovered that the Moon has craters, Venus has phases, Jupiter has moons, and Saturn has rings. This year you can discover these and many modern wonders of the amazing overhead tapestry that is shared by all of humanity. If, like many others, you find the night sky wondrous and educational, be sure to attend an IYA2009 event in your area, and tell any schools and children that might be interested. Also, please feel free to explore the extensive IYA2009 web pages to find international media events that include blogs, webcasts and much much more.

F yeah IYA09! There’s a facebook group up for this too if anyone cares.
sumo get your flood light and the brightest flashlight you can get we are going to IYA09 to fuck up some people’s eyes
Yay LETS GO LOOK AT SHIT THROUGH TELESCOPES!. Fuck that. I want a fucking space elevator or shuttle craft to take me into space. I’m tired of looking back in time at the universe i want to visit these unfathomably giant clusters of matter and the reactions of its interactions. I want to see saturns rings as close as i can get. Fuck this waiting on the ground bullshit hoping maybe we are heavenly creatures of gods design destined to an infinite power beyond what we now have. And fuck telescopes. My eyes hurt like shit having to look through those damn things. I want a stereo telescope.
Stereo telescope = binoculars.
@...thelotuseater725: “maybe we are heavenly creatures of gods design destined to an infinite power beyond what we now have.” then we would kill eachother. i know i would kill that “O’Reily guy”.
@...thelotuseater725: Really! What is the deal? We were promised space flight for e1.
