Story isnt too original, being that it pulls elements from 1984, Farenheit 451 and others. But the details of the movie and the fact that it holds its own even as a low budget film says alot. The explaination of martial arts with mathematics and the use of color to parallel emotion are brilliant.
The fight scene where he pistol-whips those guys was filmed in 20 minutes. They were over budget and behind schedule.
Bale is amazing. The director said he was a blessing. His dance training (ballet, I believe) meant he could do a fight with only being walked through the choreography once.
I wouldn’t call Ultraviolet pure feces. It was visually appealing and fun to watch. You just have to shut your brain off first. I have the tools here for that.
@...Skifter: Actually I consider Ultraviolet and Equilibrium the same movie, just with leads of opposing genders. And I loved them both.
Reality wise, however, the choreography in both was more about flash than realism. The penchant for the utter disregard of realism was particularly bad in Equilibrium, though Ultraviolet was not that far behind.
But if you are a fan of ye old fly by wire laden Kung Fu flicks, they were top notch… 🙂

Opening Fight Scene – great.
Ending Fight Scene – great.
A lot of emotional nonsence in between.
Christian Bale: “Look what i can do”
Magnificent film. Made me fall in love with Bale all over again.

Anyway, this movie is awesome.
Was it just me, or could anyone else not watch Ultraviolet without thinking of Equilibrium?

Ultraviolet had a couple great shots of Milas ass. Other than that it was the suck.
Equilibrium is a fantastic film though.
