Not disimilar. Both are non-insect arthropods. The crawfish (sorry, Louisiana background just kicked in) has ten legs, like the scorpion, but also ten swimmerettes, and a pair of powerful (for its’ size) pinchers.
@Theo11: they are delicious. They also seem to think I’m delicious. I went to the BWCA and spent a lot of time barefoot while loading and unloading at portages. Fucking bastards never failed to find me and try to take a swipe at me. There were fire restrictions ongoing at the time or else I’d have had them for dinner. Next time, little crawfishies, next time.
First time I saw one of these in my basement, I thought it was a scorpion- went to get my mom, and she was like “Scorpion? In our basement?” and I said “It’s more likely than you think.”
we used to go crayfish hunting in the creekbed near where we grew up.
we’d tie bacon to fishing string, and those fuckers would come ‘arunnin.
one day my dog got ahold of the bacon when we were’nt paying attention. so we pulled the bacon back out of his tummy with the string. the dog kept eating it and we kept pulling it back out. it was so gnarly and awesome.
and a proud crayfish it is.
Fucking delicious. I ate so many of those buggers when I was in the BWCA. They are very entertaining to catch! One of my favorite animals.
Looks like an arrogant motherfucker.
Looks like an underwater scorpion.
