“pinch me” as in ‘this must be a dream, so wake me up to reality’… damn illiterate generation. You aren’t familiar with colloquilisms like “lipstick/perfume on a pig” or such…
I have a dream and friends named Mahatma Gandhi.
Martin Luther King day is great, youngest person ever awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, but how about giving a little credit where it’s due Ghandi…
In most cases taking someone else’s writing and claiming it as your own is frowned upon branded as plagiarism… MLK immortalized his famous speech and yet no reference to the Great Ghandi has ever been officially acknowledged.
Yes he was a brave and courageous man who’s life was taken the same as Ghandi’s was, Yes he was persued by our own government as an advocate of communism, but seriously does anyone realize how much of his success had to do with Ghandi.
@...Dublin0:
LOL… maybe because Ghandi was a racist who hated blacks and thought associating Indians with them was “disgraceful and insulting”. Ghandi may have done many great things for HIS people, but he wasn’t an advocate for anyone else, especially not people he thought were lesser creatures.
I think MLK’s dream was to elect qualified people regardless of their skin color. And that dream has most certainly not been fulfilled. If anything, Obama sealed the deal by playing the race card.
Martin Luther accomplished more against a larger evil.

Wow are you serious? Martin Luther is one of my heroes. But I admire MLK as well.
But no seriously, I don’t know any non-Christians (you aren’t one right?) who know and admire Martin Luther, except for myself.
@...Dublin0:
I hate to say this, but Ghandi was an asshole. You do know what he did to his wife? And later on when HE got sick, of course he accepted medicine. Suddenly it wasn’t up to god’s will anymore.
People call Christians radical, and praise Ghandi like he’s some saint, it’s quite funny.
Gandhi and his relationship with God is Gandhi’s business I don’t give two shits… but he lead the peace movement and without his teachings and HUGE influence MLK’s speech wouldn’t have been shit in fact MLK’s speech even sounds like he took Gandhi interpreted it and inserted color and skin a few times than went live with it @...CathyLong: even so MLK stated he got his “operational technique” from Gandhi, he didn’t mind using teachings from a man who found the inhabitants of Africa to be lazy savages who were barely human.

Dude, it’s not about Gandhi’s relationship with god. It’s about what he did to his wife just to impress the masses.
His wife was seriously sick, she had bronchitis and whatnot. Gandhi didn’t allow her to take penicillin, he said if it’s god’s will she will survive.Well, she died.
Here’s the kicker, later on he got malaria, guess what he did? Of course he accepted treatment.
If a man doesn’t take care of his own family just to make a point, I don’t care what else he has, or hasn’t done.
I have no problems with MLK – but he is credited with a lot of things that came to fruition after his death and not all of them were entirely due to him. To me he is a greater symbol than he was a person.
Martin Luther, on the other hand, faced down the Catholic church in it’s own backyard and in an age where it named kings and had the power of life or death over most Europeans. That takes balls, and you do not have to be religious to appreciate that.
@...dieAntagonista: Bill Clinton cheated on his wife does that remove anything he did as a President no it means he made a piss poor decision about his personal life. Just because Gandhi stuck to tradition and had an extreme view on religion doesn’t discredit him from being the source of the “I have a dream’s” substance.

I agree absolutely. This is really awesome.
@...Dublin0:
Well cheating on your wife, and killing your wife, are two VERY different things.
I’m sorry it’s just dishonest and cruel as hell.
If he would have refused treatment as well, that would have been a little different.
But I have lost all my respect for him after I learned what he has done to his wife.
There are many bad people who do a lot of good. Whether it’s for fame or money, I can’t respect that.
I don’t get it.
I haz teh dumb today.
One of my Favorite MLK Speeches
Pinch me I’m dead? Is that like Touch Me I’m Sick?
Wut?

I prefer Martin Luther to Martin Luther King.

Mr. King would have never done such a thing.

Actually, yes.
I have no problems with MLK – but he is credited with a lot of things that came to fruition after his death and not all of them were entirely due to him. To me he is a greater symbol than he was a person.

I have much more respect for Martin Luther.

@...dieAntagonista: That still doesn’t omit the fact he was the original civil rights leader and the MLK rode his shoulders galliantly.
Must be having a nightmare….
