I saw this as part of an expose on MSNBC about “why we vote”. The journalist asked 24 different people in 16 states about their reasons for voting. This guy is a champ.
I am a Muslim, and I find it extremely offensive anytime I hear that fact being raised as a possible exclusion for someone to run for office. What has happened to America?
@...General X: I think it’s interesting. I also thought, anybody who is over 35,a citizen of the US and a resident within the US for 14 years, can run for president.
But you know, you really don’t have to be offended. The main reason why so many people point the finger at Obama and say he’s a Muslim so they won’t vote for him, is because they think he’s a ‘closet Muslim’.
They think Obama is living a fake live etc. that’s why they claim all this nonsense.
They’re just silly little lemmings and afraid.
I’m fairly positive, to run for president, you had to be a US citizen all your life. So naturalized citizens couldn’t run.

That’s the genius of the Republicans. Here you’ve got a guy who’s living off public assistance and doesn’t have a job. The Republicans aren’t going to do one goddamn thing for him. They’re going to raise the taxes he’ll pay if he ever gets a job; they’ll try to take away any assistance programs that are currently helping him; they’ll make it hard for him to get health care. But all they have to do is appeal to his racist tendencies–Hey, look at that nigra over there! He’s a moooslim! He don’t love Murrika ’cause he don’t wear no flag pin–and he’ll fall right in line, vote for them, and shoot himself in the foot.
It’s like that “Joe the Plumber” dickhead from the debate. Guy makes a crap wage, lives in a shitty house with a bunch of tax liens against it, and isn’t going to be able to afford to buy that “250k/year plumbing business” anytime soon. McSame will raise his taxes now, but in the little alternate reality fantasy world that goes through his head, he’s already a millionaire and is afraid Obama will stiff him.
It’s great! Just keep telling the poor and downtrodden that if they keep working real real hard, then someday they’ll be filthy rich and the Republicans will help them out. Meanwhile, screw them over as much as you can, and occasionally go “booga-booga, brown people are gonna take your jorbs and make you gay marry and kill babies and worship Allah and blow up your airplanes” whenever they get out of line. It’s genius!
@...General X: It’s actually just old white guy code for “Don’t vote for the black guy” but somehow accusing him of being a closet Muslim is more PC.
I love how every time I see someone over the age of fifty explain why they’re voting for MCCain that their answer involves being afraid of Barack, the boogyman or immigrants.
WOW! I am completely blown away by the number of intelligent remarks. Amazing! I was afraid to read the comments cause I thought for sure it would be an ignorance fest as it usually is when it comes to race, religion, guns, or ethnicity on this site.
Go MCS!
At 61 and living in a small city such as Statesville,N.C.,the chances of this guy ever having secure, long term, productive employment are just about nil. Also considering the fact he is homeless, there has to be a serious reason for that.Alcoholism, mental illness, etc. He`s embittered because he knows he`s screwed.
not only is he judging by what he thinks obamas religion is, but judging by what his middle name is?? come on, when obama was born his middle name was just some strange name that no one cares about .. only recently does it ‘mean’ anything

@...General X: I might have to check my sources, but I think that some guys from a radical branch of Islam carried out an attack on the US a few years ago. Think a few thousand people died.
I have to give him props, for at least two reasons. He’s jobless down on his luck, but:
1) He’s looking for a job on his own, attempting to improve the situation all on his own.
2) He’s NOT whining and crying to the government like a little greedy pussy to hand him gifts of welfare and insurance.

You know, I thought for sure that this was a ‘shop. So I checked MSNBCs site. Nope, it’s real.
Ya know, I’ve never really thought about disenfranchising a group of people, but after seeing some recent voting results, and comments like this, I’m *REALLY* not too sure.
I’m starting to think that an IQ test before you’re allowed to vote might not be a bad idea.
@...suicydking: Yeah, but no one takes the Canadians seriously.
They were like, “Dudes, we just burnt down the dwelling of this country’s leader, what are you going to do about it” and you guys were like, “Ah, get out of here, ya goofy-ass Canucks. Always doin’ somethin’ goofy….heh heh heh, you so cra-zeh”
@...jose_lucca: this onehvymetal86: heres some unintelligence.. “2) He’s NOT whining and crying to the government like a little greedy pussy to hand him gifts of welfare and insurance”
…so living in a government homeless shelter- eating government food -drinking government water.. using government facilities to get a job.. nope hes not.
@...the_wanderer: Im offended, you thought I would post something and say its not a shoop when it was? jk
Anyway, yeah, you’re allowed to run for president if you’re muslim, as long as you were born in America and have no citizenship in other countries. People seem to forget that in America church and state are supposed to be SEPARATE. I don’t give one greasy goddamn what religion someone is as long as they want to help the country.
@...FlappyCunt: Hmmmm, not all homeless shelters are government run, and not all government run ones are run by the federal government, who gives out welfare & insurance. I realized without knowing who runs the shelter, either of us could be the owner of the unintelligence.
@...vanvelding: Yeah, lets hold over a billion people responsible for the action of some 20 nut jobs.

@...suicydking: @...General X:
I) I never said it was a fucking good idea. You asked why people don’t like Muslims. I assumed you were totally ignorant of current events and explained it to you. Whether you are aware of it or not, mass awareness/interest of Islam in the United States more or less began with 9/11. It’s a hell of a first impression. If you don’t understand how people in the US might not feel comfortable having a Muslim in one of their government’s highest posts…then I don’t know what to say.
II) I don’t know anyone from 1812. I wasn’t around to watch the White House gutted by Canadian flames. The difference between the two is obvious. I’m sure that in 1816, there weren’t many supporters for presidential candidates who were allegedly ‘closet Canadians.’
And no, I’m not saying Barak Obama is a Muslim. He’s no more a Muslim than John McCain is a member of the KKK.
Best old troll ever.
Closet muslim? Suspicious name? LOL!
I am a Muslim, and I find it extremely offensive anytime I hear that fact being raised as a possible exclusion for someone to run for office. What has happened to America?

I’d say that he deserves whatever rewards his intellectual laziness awards him, but the rest of us have to live with that decision too.

oh…snap! I forgot to include politics in my list…so to recap…race, religion, ethnicity, guns, and politics. There!
