Alcohol screws with your blood sugar… over time a heavy drinker can become insulin resistant which makes it easier for them to gain than to lose weight… and it’s all downhill from there.
People who think they are being responsible about their weight by drinking the clear alcohols are fooling themselves and no one else.
Vodka has calories. Ethanol is metabolized into acetaldehyde and then into acetic acid. Acetic acid is esterified with coenzyme A to produce acetyl CoA. Which enters into the Krebs cycle to produce energy.
I wasn’t talking about the long term effects of alcohol abuse. Vodka by itself is almost free of fat and calories. Its what you choose as a mix, and what you decide to eat after a drink that will effect your metabolism. You mix all your drinks in cola, and eat bar food all night, you can’t really blame the Vodka.
No. Vodka is free of fat and carbohydrates, but alcohol itself is metabolized to produce energy, hence it has calories. Yes, you can get fat just be drinking pure alcohol (if you didn’t die of alcohol poisoning first).
It seems like you argue the exception instead of the rule. Though you do agree with my original statement. Perhaps some of the real hardcore straight drinkers might be able to pile on pounds from only drinking Vodka, but its not so much vodka, as the lack of any normal healthy consumption that would cause negative side effects?
OMG HE ATE POLAND!
He is a Capitalist in disguise! No Communist could get so fat!
Never forget poland.
Russians get fat. One word: Vodka.
no russian can get that fat UNTIL they move to America and wear stretched out Track suits.
Lmfao @efraiel
But yea, this picture is inaccurate. Obese people can’t be communists. Except if they’re the leader of a country maybe.
Vodka has 0 calories.
Not to mention, Russia is not a communist country…
that we’re aware of…
Yes besides I don’t think this guy is Russian, notice the tan. I mean, in Russia they don’t enjoy sunlight right?
That’s correct. In Soviet Russia, sunlight enjoys you!
the main effect of alcohol is to reduce the amount of fat your body burns for energy.

Drink enough and you’ll lose a few pounds when you shit out your liver.
THIS GUY RULES
(with an iron fist!)
LOVE SAUSAGE!!!! (Garth Ennis FTW)
You could gain weight in a communist country
a few years back, a russian boxer put on a bit of weight by eating a surplus of potatoes
All hail Captain Soviet!
