You know, I’ve always wanted to drive one of these just so I could drive onroad and then jump onto the tracks during rush hour and bypass all the traffic from city-to-city driving, but I do see the real-world problems with this type of approach.
I worked at a place where I had to load and unload a couple different kinds of rail cars and used to drive an on-road/on-track vehicle called a Trackmobile. It was kind of fun driving it around and dropping it on and lifting it off track.
The only thing is it was SLOW when it was in on-road mode.
This thing is anything but slow. Its a truck. Made by Mercedes Benz. It’s called a Unimog. THe closest thing to it is a Pinzgauer. Its a 4WD with portal axles ( there is a 6WD version). In railway mode.. I think this thing can tow close to 100 tons.
You can still do 60mph on the roads.. this would make an ultimate camper van.
