That practice with the magazines has it’s pluses and minues, it’s ok if you no where else to store your extra ammo, it’s bad if you bang the open ends against the ground and bend the ends of the mags (as well as getting debris stuck between the rounds, which would then jam your weapon).
That cammo maybe somewhat effective when he takes a group of local children and shoots from behind them (which is common practice in Africa). I’m just surprised how clean it is (he must of have his rape victim wash it for him).

If you look carefully, you can see the soldier. Just look at the crazy guy with the red shirt’s gun arm, and you can see a bit of his head, and you can see his shoulder in the little triangle between Red’s arm and his body.
As for how clean his shirt is, for the answer to that you have to look to his other hand. The gesture he is making is a common African hand gesture that means, roughly translated, “No, I did not just steal this shirt from your store. How dare you, sir. I quite resent this affront to my good name. You are lucky that I am late to the opera, otherwise I would challenge you to pistols at dawn.”

A coworker was a former prime minister of Liberia, and I’d get dispatches about what I would hear the next day in the news about Liberia. I told him I didn’t want his phone bill, and I didn’t want to be getting up at 3AM to take and make those calls either.
Not Liberian soldier, LURD (Liberians United for Reconciliation and Democracy) – thugs with something resembling an organized chain of command. Mostly criminals, some idealists. My bet is that he’s a former soldier though, good trigger discipline.
