My dad used to collect old books, dating back to the 1700s. He passed away a few years ago, and I eventually moved all his books out west with me, so I could deal with them and get them out of storage. I loaded them onto a semi, and when they weighed it there were over 10,000 lbs of books!
Initially I vowed to go through them all and sell them individually, but it quickly became apparent I didn’t have the time or willpower. So I organized them all, and invited local book folks to come over and look through them. Then I told them I was posting the lot on eBay, and they could all bid the whole collection. I probably didn’t get what I could have for them, but I got them out of my garage. I’ve always grown up with the smell all over the house, and I love it to an extent. But this was too much to deal with.
Old books are old.
anyone else addicted to the smell of old dusty books?
I hate you, GTC.

Hey Vince. Thanks. Oh by the way, fuck you. 🙂

Just some personal history to add to the mix…
I demand to know why this isn’t put under the “sexy” category.
Quote Ron Burgundy: “I’m very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.”
I Think I see one of my U.S. history textbooks there!
