Look at his feet. Photogs are increasingly being busted for ‘shoppery, so now they’re starting to just stage their shots rather than, you know, act like journalists.
The caption says “Advertising photographer,” though. So is it supposed to be photojournalism? Because if it is, I am deeply ashamed. I’m going to school for photojournalism in the fall.
People are now becoming concerned about photographers staging photos because of the popularity of photoshopping. Most notable photos ever taken “in the battlefield” have been staged.
BTW, read the date in the upper right corner. The photo in question is about 5 years old.
The flag raising at Iwo Jima wasn’t staged. They had put up a flag before but were replacing it with a larger one. It was their idea and not the photographer’s, therefore not staged.
This picture has to be pretty old…if it’s American, as it well must be, then they’re definitely wearing the old uniforms – BDUs – instead of ACUs (Army Combat Uniforms).
Either way, I’m kinda depressed this is the best my future branch can do.
