Octopuses (yes that is fine, grammar nazis, check OED), have got to be the coolest fucking things alive. Their wicked smart – almost as smart as dolphins and chimps – and yet they can squeeze themselves through tiny cracks. At one point in Monteray, a few decades ago, the octopuses started to sneak out of their tanks at night, when no one was watching, into the other tanks, and eating all the exhibits. It took them months to figure it out. We can only thank the lord above or Richard Dawkins that they don’t have a taste for human flesh.

Apparently, if octopuses were longer lived, they’d’ve built communities before us. Or something. It was on Discovery a long time ago.
@Caio: At the Monterey Bay Aquarium. it was one of the tanks in the back not the exhibits and it would only eat a specific fish but it would crawl out jump into the other one and have a midnight snack and then go back to its house. then people stayed and watched and it jumped out. then they put a lid on the tank.
@asdf – The octopus got caught this time. This time. Next time they’ll post a watch. Octopuses are wise, and I, for one, will respect their wisdom come the time. That’s all I’m saying.
Still way awesome story. Look how big its brain is compared to its body. My question is do they have to hold their breath when they come on to land. I don’t really know how they breathe.

Our time is nigh.
