When the Air Force tried to deploy the first squadron of these to Okinawa for training, they had to turn back to Hawaii because the computers freaked out over the middle of the Pacific. Apparently Lockheed Martin built the most powerful fighter ever created but forgot about the international date line.
I heard about that, but, what does it matter? If the plane doesn’t know what day it is, the engine shuts down? I’m not doubting the story, just questioning how it would possibly affect the plane.
Also, I’ve always preferred the Harrier, probably because of the VTOL, and the fact that Eliza Dushku hung off the nose of one in “True Lies.”
Well, it affects it cause your talking about one of the most technological planes around.
Its designed to take advantage of new network technology being incorporated into all facets of the armed forces. If your computer reckons its friday but the one sending you information reckons its saturday there are all sorts of conflicts that arise from this sort of error.
It probably won’t shut down the engines or put you at great risk but it certainly won’t allow the aircraft to operate at 100% efficiency!!
But then again, i personally reckon this is one of the most superb aircraft out there, probably why America won’t release it to anyone 😛

They probably shopped the software out to India. You get what you pay for!
