IF your local EMS carries Grandma down the stairs in anything else; ask why you should pay the bill
That’s actually pretty cool.
I trained on one of these, we have a handicapped lady in our building and for safety reasons we must have a way to get her down the stairs. Its not too difficult to maneuver but not a fun ride in the least.
bob; I agree; I wish we had a better way to do it. It is the best tool for the job, but I feel bad for the people, especially the older ones, to have lost their independence, and have to trust someone else to take them down the stairs – it can be very hard on their pride
This stairchair is immensely better than some of the other models in use. The chair does all the work, the treads are on a reduced gear mechanism that slowly lowers the chair. Other chairs must be carried by the EMTs which greatly increases the risk of injury to the crew and the risk of dropping the patient.
