Indeed they did. I think the concept of “controlled re-entry”, kinda made them a necessity. In fact, it’s a very popular design even with modern space craft. The Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour space shuttles all had/have wings… Remarkable eh? 🙂
I’m pretty sure that’s a vision of the future, not the past. Because IMHO, all ships must have testicles.
I always found it funny that they put wings on a spaceship. Didn’t they have aerodynamics&astrophysics in the 50’s?
