Brigantyna,
No it’s not. Considering there’s only sporadic documentation on them at best it’s as valid as any other theory on them. Except Xena. Xena probably wasn’t a very accurate portrayal.
So (mAgnUS)….considering there’s only “sporadic documentation”, how exactly can you say, definitively, “no it’s not” a fallacy? Mightn’t you say “not necessarily”? Although I do accept that it’s as good a theory as any other. I find it difficult to believe, though, that an entire race would maim their younglings just to be “more adept” with a bow. As you can see from the photo, her (ginormous) breasts do not interfere in the least. And, being relatively well-endowed myself and having done some archery, I can tell you I’ve never even grazed a sideboob. It just doesn’t make sense.
Brig, I think the issue might be less what the Amazons did or did not do, but rather weather or not they existed. The Greeks thought they lived in Anatolia till they went to Anatolia, and then they just said they lived in random places (Ukrania, Lybia, various islands). Archaeologists have never found any evidence of their existence and all the places they supposedly were had well-documented patriarchal cultures. It was just a story, really.
Which just asks another question: Wtf did Heracles and Achilles fite?!?
Gosh – you can almost see her quiver… 🙂
I thought amazons burnt of a breast to be better archers. How’s she doin’ it?
That is a fallacy perpetuated by ignorance.
🙂
Why use a bow and arrow when she’s got a perfectly good pair of bazookas?
they do paul, your just drunk… the other boob gets in the way of the string 🙂
a- (privative) + mazos, “without breast”

Is that a taser in her back pocket?
the target looks like its smiling. I wonder why?

Taking aim at the stalker hiding out in her bushes…

Caio – maybe they found a small village each of single-titted women who favoured archery? -=shrug=-
