Well he is strapped in there and the handle should keep him pretty secure.
I think it’s a creative way to compensate for lack of armour. Surely better than ablative or composite armour.

KFOR is the Kosovar peace keeping force. Also, wouldn’t sitting that close to the intake of the jet engine powering that thing be more than a little dangerous.
