I work about a mile from Kirtland AFB and these things fly over my office multiple times a day. They’re pretty cool and, as Wookie_X stated, they’ve got the most distinctive sound. They sound like a cross between a prop plane and a helicopter.

wtf. I live close to Fort Bragg/Pope AFB in NC and I’ve seen all kinds of weird crap, but never one of these.
Wasn’t this thing a bit defective? Read about a couple of incidents which made it a bit of a flying brick.

Maybe…just maybe….that’s because they are….
I see these old boys fly over my house all the time..they make em right here in amarillo tx at the Bell Helicopter plant.
One of the worst planes ever made….
I read some where that they wanted to make a four rotor version. I could be wrong but if any one has more intel I would like to know more.
