Broomrape is a type of flower. There’s a kind native to my area called Naked Broomrape. All the other streets in the area are named after flowers, so it makes sense.

I definitely wouldn’t want to live at the corner of broomrape and smoketree…
Canola oil used to be called Rapeseed oil, then the feminists changed it…
I think it’s still on the back of Nutter Butters, though.

That’s in Lake Havasu City! I used to live there when I was going to high school. Smoketree (the cross street seen in the photo) is the street that Lake Havasu High School was on and is also the street I lived on! Needless to say, since I was not a native of the area, I busted out with “BROOMRAPE!” every time we passed it. Always guaranteed for a good chuckle. Memories! <3
