This is an advertisement for “The root of all evil?”. A documentary created by Richard Dawkins.
Interestingly enough he did not agree with the producer naming it as such because in his opinion you cannot have one root to any of the complexities that affect our world today.
A nod to Hepathos, you’re correct in your post, but now that you have the context of the image perhaps you could appreciate it as a provocative advertisement instead.
Religion has been used to great success throughout history to aid war
profiteers into more moola, wether it was the church, the State or the Industrial Complex.
I think that Skin head acid freak had it right.
“The World is a Vampire”
LOL. Do you know how the Europeans justified the colonization of the Americas in the first place? You know, it was common practise, before the revolutionary war (or a bit before that), for Spanish, French and British colonists would read out ten-page theological statements explaining papal history as a good and bad thing (respectively) to tribes they were making first contact with. The line of thinking was, as soon as a Indian understood your position on the popes, he was to throw himself on the ground and demand to be converted. If he didn’t, God gave you permission to pull out the guns and smallpox blankets.
There wouldn’t be a United States or Canada if it wasn’t for religion. No large group of sane people can do something that violates virtually every shared ethical code in human history, unless they think God is silently telling them to.
or a world with no terrorism, maybe? or war?
Bad people do bad things. Religion is but one excuse twisted people use to point the finger at someone else for their own actions.
Atheists kill people, too, Margaret.
That was all about business. War probably has more to do with business than anything else. I agree with EvilDon religion is just an excuse.
If there was no religion, People would not emmigrate to America in the first place, so New York would never be built.
