I’m sorry Ma’am, but you cannot purchase that 10 pound box of ‘Great Value Econo Tampons with insano glide moisture seeking applicator’ without a reservation…
she must have one of ‘those’ Wal-Marts in her area..
I would like to say at this time that I very rarely leave the house without a tie. Getting food, taking out the trash, it does not matter. Does anyone anymore have sufficient self respect to put a little effort in to their appearance?
I don’t see the point of wearing an uncomfortable strip of silk around your neck and have the excess hang down your chest (a “tie”). It’s an illusion of formality. It’s meaningless!
Ties are not uncomfortable unless you TRY to strangle yourself with it.
Therefore, I bid you to grow up. Most adults in this world respect people who dress well. Do you have a well paying career (not just a job) that is not grunt work? Have you ever applied for a loan at a bank, and got it? If the answer is “yes” to these questions, you, more then likely, had to dress well at some point. I am not saying that one MUST dress SO nicely all of the time. But I do, and do well.
yeah, um. this is from the local newspaper where I live. in fact, my wife is a reporter there. it’s the south, obviously, and this store was built outside of town – and on the wrong end of town, too. the lady in mention was glad to have a place she could go wearing rollers in her hair, etc. still, it’s hilarious.
the clipping was featuring on The Tonight Show shortly after it ran a few years ago.
I hope the Dollar Palace has provided that woman with a lifetime’s supply of out-of-date coconut milk, for the classy, classy business she’s brought them with her honest publicity spiel.
I wear pearls and gloves to shop. Always. And take opera glasses to purvey the shelves.
you know, I’m not even sure where the place is. I know what street it’s on and what part of town, but I don’t ever go there. it’s not exactly a great neighborhood – even for small-town central Louisiana.
I was just telling my wife about tiki running this clip and she informed me that the Dollar Palace closed. Sadly, a Family Dollar moved in across the street and ran them out of business. Poor Ms. Jackson. 🙁
Maybe the part of the country YOU live in. Here the dollar stores have guards around them, and if you don’t have a suit pants combo, they won’t let you enter.
There’s also a cover charge to get in, fortunately, its just a dollar.

In all honesty what kind of freak town would you live in where you must get dressed up to go to Wal-Mart. Damn CONSUMER WHORES!

Wow, I always thought I dressed nicely, but a tie to take out the garbage?
Wow.
Very few people still respect people that wear ties. Times have changed, dude.
