A few of these popped up in my area and I hate these things…only because nobody else knows how to drive through one and I always end up getting almost driven off the road or sandwiched by a someone who has never been on one before. These have no business building these things in California…everyone here is already a bad enough driver as is.

i sure hope this round-a-bout isn’t in California.. it’d be even worse then a normal western one. 😉
But yeah, i know what you mean, a single lane round-a-bout popped up just outside my house a year ago, and i still hear people honking their horns cuz some jackass doesn’t know how to drive through it..
I really hope you don’t have this type of round-about in California, because they’re driving on the left-hand side of the road.
Sorry about that…should have noted that this was a British roundabout.
In any case, I still think they should be outlawed in California…I almost got sideswiped by someone yesterday who didn’t realize they had to yield when entering the dang thing.
I hate traffic circles.
We have three in anchorage. People turn stupid when they start through them. I’ve seen some interesting accidents in the ones here.
Man, British roundabouts are a fantastic idea, they keep traffic flowing really well (usually). You just have to learn how to use them – i can see how they might cause a problem if they were new to people though. Not such a good idea :/
For everyone who has little experience with roundabouts, you should check out this one in Paris.
Just type l’arc de triomphe into google maps and zoom in. No lanes as such and most drivers are french city drivers,… suicide!

Pah! Swindon (Southern England, for those of you not familiar with it) has the best. The infamous Magic Roundabout:

Oh please. I live in Cali and we’ve got worse roundabouts than that all over town. The center of town is called El Circulo and it’s one big roundabout with like 6 exits.
Roundabouts are simple to navigate. If you cant be arsed to learn to navigate one and get in an accident on one, then it’s your fault.
But Hemel has the better Magic Roundabout (and I grew up in Swindon, so should be able to judge)

And the hemel one is the original, if you trust wikipedia

The duck, where in California are these?
