How can this be true? It took me 2 hours to figure this out.

    because it’s a four sided shape

    the red and teal triangles have different angles for their long side, its just so close it looks like it’s equel.

    I think the reason they aren’t equal is because the square area under the triangles are different sizes right? The first area is 15 squares while the second area is 16 squares (one more than the top triangle). Of course I think there’s a more specific reason then that right? I must know!

    Ahh that makes more sense, the slope of both triangles are not the same.

    I drafted this shape in AutoCAD, and if you draw a straight line from corner to corner, you can see that the 2 angles are slightly different. The resulting sliver has a precise area of 1/2 a square inch. When you reverse the sliver (as is done in the drawing), the total area of displaced sliver becomes 1 square inch, or the missing square.

    I saw this, and was horrified that we’d have another ‘Will It Fly’ to put up with.

    eh, if the slopes are different, then why arent anyone yelling fake?
    cause if the slope is different, then its just a trick they has done with teh lights and magics, and not geomerty at all 🙁
    kinda dissapointed tbh.
