More precisely, it looks like the innards the Atlas detector that will be connected to the LHC. The gray tubes are supra-conductive magnets. The whole thing is situated in a cave hunderds of meters deep underground.

Uhhh.. What interests me is: could I make a Particle Cannon out of it?
Specifically it’s one of the detector experiments. Large scale expensive uber geek stuff.
… And yes, technically, it is a particle cannon. A beam escape from this system has the power of a couple sticks of TNT. However, at 20 some odd kilometers long, it’s really hard to carry around.
Large Hadron Collider?
Yup, looks like the LHC to me. Also, props to you for not accidentally typing “Hardon Collider”. That would be gay.

Yes, It’s CERN’s (Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire) LHC (Large Hadron Collider)in Genève. The LEP’s (Large Electron-Positron Collider)substitute.

More like Large Hardon Collider amiritre?
