    “The Gorge” Review

The Gorge: Directed by Scott Derrickson. With Miles Teller, Anya Taylor-Joy, Sigourney Weaver, Sope Dirisu. Two highly-trained operatives become close after being sent to protect opposite sides of a mysterious gorge. When an evil emerges, they must work together to survive what lies within.

While this is a much more serious film than I initially thought it was going to be, there’s still some of the stupid idiots doing stupid things in a situation that everyone involved should known better. The Gorge (the location in the movie) is a wonderfully novel concept with a great execution that I fully applaud. Shame this is a home release only and didn’t make it to theaters.

    “Warning Sign” Review

Warning Sign: Directed by Hal Barwood. With Sam Waterston, Kathleen Quinlan, Yaphet Kotto, Jeffrey DeMunn. A timid security guard, her ailing supervisor-mentor, her sheriff husband and an alcoholic former scientist team up to stop a viral outbreak in a rural biological weapons lab, while a government agent grapples with the political outcome.

This is another tiktok influenced film, the scene I saw was the initial lockdown, and the ret of the film was just as good as the teaser scene suggested it would be. The crux of it is that there’s a bioweapons research company doing business under the guise of a food company, and after the have some success in making a virus that will kill millions, they decide to take some photos of the research team, while in the clean room with the virus that’s just sitting around in vials. I’m sure you’ll be shocked to hear that one of the vials is knocked over, stepped on, and then tracked outside of the lab. There’s some cool bubble suits for a few people, the location is locked down, and there’s a ton of drama on getting “the right people” back into the facility to curate a cure and the movie is just deliciously full of classic 80’s near science tropes, I honestly don’t have any complaints at all.

STAR TREK: SECTION 31 Soundtrack Releases February 14

Lakeshore Records has announced the next STAR TREK soundtrack collection: Jeff Russo’s theatrical score from the SECTION 31 streaming movie, coming February 14

Super weird they’re not mentioning a physical release for this soundtrack, there’s so many collectors out there that just want all the stuff to sit on their shelves and a digital album from a streaming only platform ain’t gonna cut it.
