Same here w/in city limits I’m out in the county and, technically, I could go w/ FIOS, but I’m too far away from and sub-station (or something). We’re still running w/ copper telephone lines and finally was able to get Vonage this year. It’s not a great signal but it’s $240 for the year, as opposed to Verizon which was $80 p/m. Were the last house on my road that can even get cable. My neighbors have to use a sat dish. I don’t know what they’re using to get the internet.
You’re starting to need those digital jobbies for terrestrial TV in Britain. They’ve been going on about it for years now and soon we won’t be able to receive even bog standard telly without one.
I can understand the grief though. Having myself been an avid watcher of CN and still would, if they’d still broadcast any cartoons that I like.
Yeah, I’ve always had DirecTV, and I love it. The only time in ten years it’s gone out was during an ice storm. It’s been covered in snow and still working. Everyone I know who has Comcast bitches about it.
Follow my lead here folks. Ditch your cable provider. Get netflix. Instant streaming through your PC or XBOX. Watch everything else on Hulu or on the website of the show/network itself.
Bonus: Because you have to choose what to watch in advance, you don’t just sit down, turn on the TV & tune out while some show you can barely tolerate takes up an hour of your day.
Other bonus: a savings of 50-150$ a month that you can spend on things like leaving the house.
It’s not just comcast you guys. If anyone here actually watches/reads any kind of news at all you’d already have known this was going to happen NATIONALLY a long time ago. They’ve (and by they I mean the FCC) has been trying to notify everyone for the last 2 years that everyone will have to switch to digital because they (again, the FCC) are converting everything that direction by this year…so before you go talking shit about a company you should probably read up on what’s going first.
Did you just fall off the stupid truck? The “digital changeover” was only on broadcast channels. You know the ones that people used antennas to get on their tv’s? Yes the FCC wants all cable/satellite/IPTV to have HD equivalent versions of the channels but not to replace them. The FCC has not been trying to get rid of analog cable. It’s just Comcast trying to make more money than they should be entitled to. Considering that Comcast has in certain cities (and plans for all their cities) broadband caps (You get x amount of MB downlaodable per month and over that you get charged y dollars for each MB over). Can you expect anyone to stand up for the rights of the consumer? The only one that can make a difference is if we as consumers refuse to comply with corporation strongarm tactics.
HAHAHAHHA @... Cartoon Network.
I got tat notice months ago. I had to get a 2nd DVR box because of it ($12 p/m compared $3 p/m for regular box). Comcast really pisses me off.
*that
Comcast is fucking bullshit.
Now that I have the digital converter the cable is always going out. “low signals”FUCK COMCAST.
They don’t even allow you to have Verizon Fios in Philadelphia because of the contract they have with the city. :\

sci fi, FX, bet, golf channel all went out.
They said either we only get 1-35 or we need the DTA boxes.
It’s going to have a clearer picture so it’s worth it.
Question: How does everyone rate pics like this? A 5 star because it’s an interesting post, or 1 star ’cause I fucking hate Comcast?

I thought Cartoon Network had died a long time ago with all the Powerpuff Girls and similar boring bullcrap. Bring back Top Cat and 2 Stupid Dogs.

Why do you people still analogue cable? Goddamn, is it 1994 already?!

Damn, this makes me glad I have Dish Network. And before you say it, mine only goes out in the absolute WORST of thunderstorms.

(from someone in the communications biz)
I have the same issue with computer games.
People are stupid and either simply have enough money not to care or don’t see the point.
My work charges $5 for a large soda with 1 refill.
Sure, it’s insane, but it’s also not that hard to just bring a backpack and fill it with food and drinks.
Not allowed to bring backpacks into any of the theaters here.
You can till get tv without a digibox in America?
LOl you’re so much behind in tech, we have needed those thinks for years allready.
Woooo Go Nittany Media
Booo evil comcast eating up good cable companies
all I have to say is EVA9150 from netgear.
ALL ISP’s are electronic pigs. AOL and ComCast are tied for first place.
