I believe this is the result of putting a cd in a microwave.

    correct… its a pretty cool light show too… but its kinda stinks when u do it…

    Yeah, I did it once. It was cool, but stunk. The thing is the cracks usually appear over the entire CD…

    I don’t think it could be from Bragg diffraction since the wavelength of a microwave (oven) is about 12 cm. The pattern is more likely just from tracks on the CD.
